Quantifiers and Degrees
This theme comprises my work on the (mostly formal) semantics of quantifiers and degree (constructions). What logic accurately describes how we communication quantities and extents? Why is there such linguistic diversity in how we express such seemingly straightforward concepts? How can we account for secondary inferences that we draw from the use of certain expressions? Why, for instance, is it odd to say that a triangle has 'at least three' sides, when it is clearly less odd to say that it has 'more than two' sides?
